Red, White & Blue @ The Zoo.

Dear Scarlett,
All week I had been thinking about where we could bring you for some fun this weekend.
Daddy picked up the movie "We bought a Zoo" from Redbox and we watched it Sunday evening, after you went to sleep. Really good movie. I especially love movies that are based on true stories.

So I woke up on Memorial Day and said to Daddy, "Let's bring Scarlett to the zoo."
Like a good Daddy, he found a small zoo that wasn't far from us.  We packed you up in your red, white, and blue wear and headed out. You LOVED it! I thought maybe you would be too young to care. Not the case. My heart went pitter patter when you laughed at the goats who began butting each other. You giggled at the peacock who followed us through the zoo and you looked in amazement at the friendly duck who approached us.
You loved feeding the bears and couldn't quite figure out why on earth the monkeys kept dropping their cans on chains down from their loft. As we filled them with food and they pulled them back up, the monkeys chattered and you smiled.
All is right in the world when Scarlett smiles.

It was a Happy Memorial Day Weekend.

12 Months Old.

Dear Scarlett,

     Wow. 12 months.
Well, I have a book worm on my hands. You are so intrigued with books! When you were 7 months old, I was amazed that you could turn the pages while I read to you. Now you are 12 months old and you bring yourself right over to the books, you take them off the shelf and you go through each page, making noises as you do. I would swear you were reading if I didn't know better. I stop and just watch you reading. I love listening to you.
My happy little girl! You make me laugh everyday. Your new things this month are:
~Answering "Oh yeah" whenever I ask you anything. It's very comical.
~You go through your books for hours!
~You are going through a "I don't want to eat" phase. You will eat vegetables but breakfast is always a struggle. You love veggie crunch puffs and rice crackers. I think this is because you are teething. It seems whenever you are teething, you don't like to eat much.
~Standing up on everything & walking while holding onto things
~You are getting into everything that you shouldn't be! Baby wipes, puzzles, my flip flops, water bottles, and Daddy's XBox.
~You have 4 teeth now! The top two just poked through. Still, as happy as ever.
~You love going for walks outside now. You kick your little feet and talk in your stroller.
~I love the cutest little noise that you make, "Tica tica tica tica tica" I have no idea why. Haha.
~You eat your blankie. That's nothing new, you have done that since you were a tiny baby.
~We had to lower your crib down since you are trying to get out of it. We found you standing in it, leaning over the edge.
~Your baby toys bore you now. Time for some big girl toys.
~You understand when we say "No". If you touch something that you aren't supposed to, we tell you no and you take your hand back. We'll see how long that lasts.....
~When we practice animal noises, the horse cracks you up every time.
Your birthday is this Friday Your party is this Saturday. I am posting this early since Mommy & Daddy will be very busy the week of your birthday. We are going back to our house in Massachusetts for your party and then coming back to move us all into the new condo.

We love you little baby. I was looking through your baby photos the other day and I can't believe how much you have grown. It's a wonderful thing to experience but it makes me sad at the same time. You aren't a Peanut anymore. You are almost 1 years old. Crawling everywhere, talking up a storm, standing, almost walking, getting into mischief,  laughing with us, crying with us.
The best thing that happened this month was this. Everyday when Daddy gets home, you always hug him hello. But this month, I was sitting on the floor playing with you. You were over with your books, per usual. You crawled over to me, you climbed up on me and you laid your head down on me and wrapped your little arms around me. I was instantly teary. You hugged your Mommy for the first time by yourself.

    Happy 12 months Peanut.
As always, We love you more than life.
