The Little Things.

IMG_0005
Dear Scarlett,
I wrote this for my personal life blog but I thought I'd share it with you, also.

Scarlett has a habit of pulling her socks off every chance she gets.
Every morning, I find two little socks laying in her crib.
I love those little socks.
Oh, how I love the little things.

The dainty little "Oh yeah" response that Scarlett makes now, when I ask her anything.
The way Ty always takes my hand when we are walking.
The smell of coffee in the morning.
Warm days when I leave the windows & doors open.
 Scarlett clapping my hands.
Flip flops.
Candles burning in the evening.
Beach sand.
Chick Peas.
Ty curling around me in the middle of the night.
The raggedy blankie that Scarlett eats.
Beach bags.
The way Ty smiles at me when he comes home to a cooked meal & clean house.
The way Ty always tries to help with everything even when I say 'I've got it'.
Food cooking on the grill.
The smell of sun tan lotion on skin.
Meal planning.
words on paper.
Scarlett, throwing her toys to the side, to greet Daddy hello.
fresh lemonade.
Little old treasures that I find at the flea market.
The birds chirping outside the window.
My favorite movie that I've watched a hundred times.
Bike rides.
Relaxing on the porch.
Blueberries.
The sound of Scarlett reading her books, all her little noises.

When I started thinking of all the things I love the most. I realized, none of them are extravagant things. They are all simple, small details. How I love the little things in life....

Your First Easter

Dear Scarlett,
This year was your first Easter.

We went home to Massachusetts to spend the Holiday with our families.
Every time we go back, it's always hectic. Hours of travel, you didn't nap well, and we had million things to do/people to visit.
But it was nice, as always, to see the family.
Saturday we spent the day with Daddy's family & had a yummy turkey dinner.
On Sunday, Auntie Erica made an Easter Lunch. Scarlett even had her very first Easter Egg Hunt.
She found all her eggs and got the cutest Easter Basket.
The day ended with family games & lots of laughter, of course.
We got home Monday night and to say we were exhausted, is an understatement.
I'm glad to be off the road! You were in the car all day Monday and you were such a patient baby.

It was a Happy 1st  Easter for you :)

11 Months Today!

WHAT!?!? How is it possible that in one month, you will be 1 years old!? I can't believe how quickly time goes by. I always knew time flies but I never really understood how quickly until you were born.

So what has been happening this month? We spent a lot of time outdoors since it has been really nice out in March, in New York. Unheard of. 80 degrees a couple weeks ago.
You surprised us this month by starting to crawl. You have always hated to be on your belly. I was sure that you would skip crawling since you stand and pull yourself up on things. But one day, you just decided you wanted to crawl too. Now, you are everywhere!
You can wear a pony tail with no problem. Your hair is long enough. Everyone is smitten by your little pony tail on top of your head!  Mommy has fun with doing your hair now.
We bought you some Saratoga Springs mementos from downtown. Daddy bought you a sweatshirt and a Saratoga Pony to add to your furry friend collection.

We also brought you to your first ever High Hopes Sugar Shack experience. Every year, Mommy's family goes to get breakfast at High Hopes Sugar Shack. We always take pics in the High Hopes Photo Boards. This year, you got to go with us :)
Scarlett, I know that I am the one to write most of these letters. It doesn't mean that Daddy isn't there for you. He reads every post that I write you. Daddy works very hard to give us a great life. He is the reason why we are able to wear lots of clothes and go do fun things. Even though Daddy works Long days, he still comes home and the first thing he does is say hello to you and pick you up. He feeds you & changes you whenever he's home. He is there for just as much as me. The only difference is that I have the time to write these letters for you.

You hate food that is chunky. I tried to give you some big girl food. You refuse to eat it. I won't make you. I know you will eat more when you are ready. Right now you are content with pureed foods. After all, you only have two teeth. I am a believer that babies all develop and grow at their own rate. They all walk, talk and eat at different stages. You aren't in a rush for big girl food. That is okay. You are, however, ready for big girl books! You are a book worm. I read you 4 books or more at a time. You cry when they are done. I have never seen a baby so intrigued by books. Maybe you will love writing like me. I loved books when I was young, too. As of lately, you crawl over to your books, pick one out, & begin flipping through pages. It's the cutest thing ever. I caught it on video & I will post it soon.

Scarlett, just when I think I can't love you anymore, you fill my heart some more. I am completely amazed by the little person we have created. I can't wait to see what things you do this next month. I am positively ecstatic to celebrate your first birthday!!

Happy 11 Months Little Peanut Baby....you are becoming a big girl.

Traditional Family Sugar Shack 2012

        Dear Scarlett,

Every year, in early spring, our family on Mommy's side, head out to a Sugar Shack. It is a place that makes maple syrup. Each year, it is tradition to take pictures in the High Hopes Sugar House cut outs. This year was special because you got to join us....It is so amazing to me. I get to watch you take part in all of our family traditions now. Here are the pictures from this year:

Letter From Daddy

April 1, 2012

Hi little peanut,

I just wanted to tell you how much I love you and how much you have changed my life.  Once you were born, my life was changed for the better. I noticed while holding you in my arms for the first time that everything I did from that day forward would reflect on how your life was. That my life was not just about me anymore and I had to make sure I gave you the life I had growing up.
You are closing in on a year old and right now you are yelling in the background so Daddy can’t think. As you will learn while you grow right now we are traveling around and going wherever work may take us. Someday it could be a good experience for you to see all the places we may go but I am hoping by the time you get older and can understand more we will be settled down somewhere and able to enjoy our home but for now while your young this works.
I love watching you get older from making noises to trying to crawl even though right now you go backwards or in circles. I am working 10-12hr days so when I get home I love seeing my happy baby full of smiles and bounces greeting me once I walk up the stars. Occasionally when I wake up in the morning and try to quietly walk past your crib not to wake you I peek over seeing you already awake looking at me like I SEE YOU! I will pick you up, change you and say goodbye. Once I lay you back in your crib you turn to your side and go back to sleep as if you woke just to say “have a good day daddy” Even when you’re sleeping I will kiss your forehead and say goodbye to you and mommy. I love you Peanut.

Love, Daddy
