Your First 5 Months Recap

Dear Scarlett,

The first 5 months of your life went by so fast! If only you had a pause button. I wish you would slow it down. It isn't possible to recap 5 months on one page. There were so many details and feelings that it would take me a whole book to write down. But I thought I would tell you some details about you and your life so far.
The Day we brought you home.....how small and sweet you were. Smitten.

For about a week after you were born, all you did was sleep.

You love putting things over your face; Blankets especially! But you will use a sock, or stuffed animal if your blanket isn't close. I think you find it soothing. Sometimes, you put something over your face and then start wiggling like you want it off. I take it off and you smile. I'm starting to think you believe it's a game. This is your Sugar B that Elyssa gave to you. You love to snuggle with it. It is your favorite Blankie.
You started small amounts of cereal at 4 months old and fruits & veges around 5 months old. You love sweet potatoes, bananas, applesauce, sweet peas and squash. You hate green beans. You spit them out on me one time.  I sing "Sweet potato Sweet potato" to you when you eat.

You love it. I give you little pieces of apple in your fresh food feeder and you gnaw on it. But you gag if I put a fresh banana in it. Although you love banana from the jar. I'm starting to make your foods by hand now also.

You don't sleep through the night and never have. You used to wake up about every hour and a half. Now, you wake up about 2-3 times a night. You only want my comfort and then you go right back to sleep.
You smiled very early. You were about 2 1/2 months and what a infectious smile you have. Here is a picture of one of your first smiles.
You love when Daddy teaches you animal noises, especially the cow, "Mooooooooooo!"
I called you my Little Ravenous Beast. All you wanted to do for a couple months was eat!

Everyone says you look JUST like Daddy.

You are a breastfed baby.  It was a struggle to get you to latch but once you did, you refused bottles for awhile. I got you to finally take a bottle by 4 months. But you still only drink breast milk at 7 months. You hate formula and I don't blame you, I smelled it and it isn't the prettiest stuff I've ever smelled.

You hate being on your belly. I try to do belly time with you and you roll over almost immediately. But your legs are strong little jumpers! You love your Jumperoo. You cry if I take you out, sometimes. You will fall asleep in it before you want to be taken out. The doctor said your legs are very strong and you will probably go from sitting to walking, skipping right over crawling. I stand you up against the couch and you hold on and stand, right now.
There were a lot of things you hated until you got older. When you were tiny, you only wanted to be held and sang to. Daddy and I had to take turns walking you around the house singing.

You love car rides. You fall asleep when we are going for rides. But you hated car rides until you were about 3 months old.

You refused to take a pacifier, or as we call it, a Binky, until you were 3 months old.
You didn't like your swing until you were 2 months.

I love when you cuddle me. Sometimes, you will cuddle your arms around me and push your face against my chest. I absorb every moment of it since you are mostly an independent baby. Again, like your Mama.

You love baths. You usually eat Rubber Ducky the entire time. That and splash. I'll never forget the day I realized you can't have baths in the sink anymore. Let's just say I was soaked!

You were a little Houdini when it came to being swaddled. You would grunt and groan. I would look in your bassinet and see that you had somehow, unraveled yourself out of your swaddle blanket that I actually took a class on so you would be swaddled nice and warm.

You have loved TV since you were about a month old! That and windows. If the tv was on, you would be looking at it. I guess you are one of the babies that loves it.
I try not to let you watch it much but, sometimes, it was the only thing that would quiet you.  The first show you ever watched, was Cops.....lol, thanks to Daddy.

You are my little fashionista. I dress you up real cute and you model away....

We don't let Daddy dress you anymore, since he tends to put your clothes on backwards. Hahaha.

You sat up by yourself at 4 months 3 weeks.

Your first Birthday Party was cousin Elyssa's 9th Birthday.

This was your first 4th of July at the Campground.

Your favorite toy up until a month or so ago, was Mr. Octopus.

You discovered your feet and now you eat your toes.

Your first swimming experience was only toe dipping in August 2011 but you liked it.

Overall, you are a very happy baby. You bring joy into my life. This is such a short portion of what I could tell you about the first 6 months. But the most important thing to know, is that you were the best thing to happen to us and we look forward to the next chapters in your life.
